Our client are a new exciting Space startup looking for a Lead Electrical Engineer to take ownership of the electrical architecture and hardware development of our space drones from the ground up. This is a full lifecycle role. You won’t inherit a mature spacecraft electrical system or own one small piece of a larger program. You’ll take hardware from a blank sheet through architecture, design, build, integration, qualification and ultimately flight.
What You’ll Own:
Own the electrical development of their space drones across the full spacecraft lifecycle
Define the vehicle electrical architecture from the ground up, including component selection, interfaces, power and avionics integration
Take electrical hardware from initial requirements and architecture through detailed design, prototyping, build, test, qualification and flight
Select and qualify COTS hardware, balancing performance, reliability, cost and speed of development
Work hands-on with hardware, including building, debugging and troubleshooting electrical systems
Own electrical integration across the vehicle, working closely with flight software, GNC, autonomy and mechanical engineering
Develop and execute electrical test and validation strategies for both individual hardware and the integrated vehicle
Help build a comprehensive but lean engineering development unit (EDU) that allows the team to rapidly integrate, test and iterate on spacecraft hardware
Drive hardware readiness and own electrical go/no-go decisions for integration and deployment
Why Join?
Real ownership. You’ll own the electrical system across its entire lifecycle, from the first architecture decisions through to hardware operating in orbit. This is not a narrow subsystem role.
A founding-level role. You’ll be a core technical leader in the business, with meaningful equity and involvement in the decisions that shape both the vehicle and the company.
Build, test, learn, repeat. Our client is designing around high flight volume and rapid iteration. The goal is to build approximately 100 vehicles per year, creating far more opportunities to test hardware, learn from it and improve the next vehicle than a traditional multi-year spacecraft development cycle.
Build something that flies. If you’ve taken spacecraft electronics from requirements through design, integration, qualification and flight, and want to do it again with significantly more ownership, this role gives you that opportunity.
Requirements:
Significant experience developing electrical systems or avionics for spacecraft
Demonstrated full lifecycle hardware development experience, from initial requirements and architecture through design, build, integration, test and qualification
Strong hands-on electrical engineering background, with the ability to design, build, debug and test hardware rather than solely managing its development
Experience integrating electrical hardware within a multidisciplinary spacecraft or similarly complex aerospace system
Comfortable selecting components and defining architectures from the ground up
Comfortable operating in an early-stage environment where you’ll own your discipline while contributing across the wider vehicle and company
If you’ve owned spacecraft electrical hardware across the full development lifecycle and want the responsibility of taking a vehicle from a blank sheet of paper through build, qualification and ultimately into orbit, we’d like to hear from you.

This is a high-impact opportunity to define and scale the operational backbone of a company delivering mission-critical space capabilities.
What if your next systems engineering role wasn't about maintaining a programme that's already been built?
What if you could help shape the satellites themselves?
EVONA is working with a fast-growing space company that's expanding its presence in the US and looking for an experienced Systems Engineer to join its team in Denver, Colorado.
This is an opportunity for someone who understands small satellites, enjoys solving difficult engineering problems and wants to work somewhere where decisions turn into hardware and missions quickly.
You'll be joining a fast-paced, hands-on smallsat engineering and manufacturing environment, developing advanced software-flexible satellites for commercial, government and scientific missions.
The opportunity
As a Systems Engineer, you'll sit at the centre of the spacecraft development process.
You'll work directly with customers to understand what they're trying to achieve, translate those mission objectives into clear technical requirements, and then work alongside hardware and software engineering teams to turn those requirements into a satellite solution that works.
You'll be involved from the early conversations and system definition right through the development lifecycle towards deployment.
This isn't a role where you'll simply inherit requirements and manage documentation.
You'll help define them.
You'll challenge them.
And you'll work with the engineering teams to make sure the spacecraft ultimately delivers what the mission requires.
What you'll be doing
You'll define and manage spacecraft system and subsystem requirements, translating high-level customer and mission needs into clear engineering requirements.
You'll work across satellite subsystems including communications, power, propulsion and other spacecraft systems, ensuring everything comes together at system level.
You'll collaborate closely with hardware and software engineers to refine technical solutions and resolve system-level challenges.
You'll also communicate directly with customers, evaluating technical requirements and helping develop and negotiate satellite and subsystem solutions.
Throughout the programme, you'll help drive projects from initial concept through development and ultimately deployment.
Who we're looking for
We're looking for someone who has already spent meaningful time designing and developing small satellites.
You'll ideally bring:
5+ years' experience designing and developing nanosatellites and/or small satellites
A BSc or MSc in Aerospace Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science or a related discipline
Strong understanding of satellite systems and subsystems, including communications, power and propulsion
Experience turning high-level technical needs into well-defined system and subsystem requirements
Experience working directly with customers and multidisciplinary engineering teams
Strong written, verbal and visual technical communication skills
The ability to communicate complex systems through schematics, sequences and state diagrams
You'll need to be based in the Denver area or willing to relocate to Colorado.
Due to the nature of the work, you'll also need to be a US citizen or US permanent resident.
What would really make you stand out?
Perhaps you've worked with mission budgets covering power, link or delta-V.
Maybe you've used STK or GMAT for orbit and mission analysis.
You might have experience with SolidWorks, DFMEA, UML/SysML or have a working knowledge of C/C++ or Python.
Experience with project and risk management or tools such as Jira and Confluence would also be valuable.
You don't necessarily need every one of these.
What matters most is that you understand spacecraft, can think at system level and enjoy solving complex engineering problems.
Why Apply?
You'll get the opportunity to work on real spacecraft and genuinely influence how they're designed.
This is a fast-paced, delivery-focused engineering environment tackling difficult technical problems and developing next-generation satellite technology.
You'll collaborate with highly experienced international engineering teams and have opportunities for occasional international travel.
The package includes:
Salary of $145,000–$195,000
Health insurance
Matching 401(k)
Generous team performance-based bonus
Continued technical learning and development
International collaboration and occasional travel
Most importantly, you'll be joining at an exciting stage of growth.
If you've spent the last few years designing small satellites and you're ready for a role where you can have a much bigger impact on the spacecraft, the mission and the engineering decisions behind them, I'd love to hear from you.
