Systems Engineer
Systems Engineer, Platform Integration
Remote, based near Hill AFB (UT), Fort Hood (TX) or Fort Carson (CO)
The company
A growth-stage defense technology company building an onboard data and cybersecurity platform for military fleets. Their hardware and software sit on Army ground vehicles and military aircraft, reading the data buses and giving operators visibility of what is happening inside the platform. Revenue has tripled this year and a major military contract is in progress.
The role
This is an engineering seat, not a documentation one. You will lead the software integration of the platform onto each military vehicle or aircraft, acting as technical lead over a small integrated team of software, hardware and systems engineers. You will own the top-level architecture for your programs and take it from requirements through builds, test and validation, working directly with the customer's engineers at nearby bases.
You will be remote day to day, living within commuting distance of your base, with around 30% travel to base and customer sites.
What you will do
Lead integration of the platform's software onto embedded systems and military platforms
Own top-level architecture and technical decisions for your programs
Manage requirements traceability, test and validation, builds and technical documentation
Act as tech lead for an integrated product team
Work directly with customer engineering teams and program offices
What we are looking for
An engineer who started as a hands-on software or platform developer and then moved into systems engineering
Real development depth in one or more of: operating systems, kernel work, embedded software, DevOps, or low and high-level application architecture
Hands-on experience integrating software onto platforms or embedded systems
3 to 10 years of experience. The ideal profile is 3 to 5 years of development followed by 1 to 2 years in a systems role
Comfortable working without heavy process or admin support
US citizen

Clearance
Hill AFB: active Secret clearance required before start
Fort Hood and Fort Carson: clearable US citizens considered, active clearance preferred
Compensation
