Senior Thermal Engineer

Senior Thermal Engineer – Space Systems

Location: Westminster, Colorado
Employment: Full-time | On-site
Industry: Space & Aerospace

EVONA is partnering with a fast-growing space technology company developing advanced communications hardware for satellites, spacecraft and airborne platforms.

We’re looking for a Senior Thermal Engineer to take ownership of the thermal design, analysis and validation of next-generation space hardware.

This is a highly technical, hands-on role where you’ll work alongside mechanical, electrical and RF engineers to develop thermal solutions for sophisticated electronics from initial concept through analysis, manufacturing, testing and qualification.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Own thermal design and analysis for spacecraft electronics, PCBAs, enclosures and integrated systems.

  • Perform detailed conductive, convective and radiative heat-transfer analysis.

  • Develop thermal models using tools such as ANSYS or Thermal Desktop.

  • Build thermal resistance networks and reduced-order models for complex systems.

  • Support thermal chamber and TVAC testing, correlating test results back to analytical models.

  • Work closely with mechanical, electrical and RF engineering teams to optimize hardware designs.

  • Develop scripts and tools to automate thermal analysis.

  • Support design reviews, qualification activities and technical presentations.

What We’re Looking For

  • BS or higher in Mechanical, Thermal or Aerospace Engineering.

  • 5+ years of industry experience in thermal/mechanical design and analysis.

  • Strong experience with electronics thermal management, including PCBA, box and system-level hardware.

  • Excellent understanding of heat transfer and mechanical engineering fundamentals.

  • Experience with ANSYS, Thermal Desktop or similar professional thermal simulation tools.

  • Experience correlating analytical models with thermal chamber or TVAC testing.

  • Understanding of manufacturing processes relevant to thermal control hardware.

  • Ability to work on-site in Westminster, Colorado.

Highly Desirable

  • Spacecraft or satellite thermal engineering experience.

  • Thermal management of phased arrays, antennas or high-power RF electronics.

  • Die, package or component-level electronics thermal analysis.

  • SolidWorks experience.

  • Python, MATLAB or similar scripting experience.

Why This Role?

You’ll work directly on advanced hardware destined for demanding space and aerospace environments, with genuine ownership over thermal performance from early-stage design through qualification.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced thermal engineer who wants to stay technically hands-on while solving challenging thermal problems on next-generation space hardware.
