Program Manager (Space Missions)

  • Location: Los Angeles, California
  • Remote: Hybrid
  • Type: Permanent
  • Job #8431
  • Salary: NON 220,000

Location: Los Angeles, California

Compensation: $160,000 – $220,000 + Performance Bonus

Environment: Smallsat Design, Manufacturing & Space Missions

The opportunity

Imagine being responsible for a satellite programme from the moment a customer signs the contract to the moment their spacecraft is operating in orbit.

Not just managing the schedule.

Not simply coordinating meetings between engineering teams.

But taking genuine ownership of the entire mission.

EVONA is partnering with a fast-growing international satellite manufacturer that is expanding its operations across the United States, developing next-generation spacecraft for commercial operators, government organisations and scientific missions.

The company specialises in advanced, software-flexible satellites and is investing heavily in its engineering capabilities, manufacturing infrastructure and US operations.

As part of this expansion, we're looking for an experienced Program Manager to join the team in Los Angeles, California.

Someone who understands spacecraft.

Someone who can bring engineers, manufacturing teams, suppliers and customers together.

And someone who knows what it takes to turn a complex satellite programme into a successful mission.

This isn't a role where you'll simply report on progress. You'll be responsible for making progress happen.

What will you actually be responsible for?

You'll take ownership of satellite programmes from contract award through design, development, manufacturing, integration, testing, launch preparation and on-orbit operations.

From the outset, you'll be the person connecting the dots.

Systems engineers will be developing the spacecraft architecture.

Mechanical and electrical engineers will be designing and building the hardware.

Manufacturing teams will be preparing the spacecraft for assembly.

AI&T engineers will be validating that everything works as intended.

And customers will be expecting their missions to be delivered on time, within budget and to the agreed technical requirements.

Your responsibility will be to bring all of this together.

You'll develop programme schedules, establish milestones, allocate resources and manage budgets, ensuring everyone understands what needs to happen and when.

You'll lead programme reviews, coordinate technical decisions and work closely with engineering teams to manage requirements, design trade-offs and potential risks.

You'll also be responsible for supplier coordination, financial forecasting, cost analysis and reporting programme performance to senior leadership.

And when challenges arise, as they inevitably do in spacecraft development, you'll be the person helping the team find a solution.

Because building satellites is complicated.

Delivering them successfully requires someone who can see the entire picture.

You'll be involved in every stage of the mission

One week, you might be preparing for a Preliminary Design Review (PDR), working with systems engineers to ensure the proposed spacecraft architecture meets customer requirements.

The next, you could be managing a critical supplier delay, reviewing manufacturing readiness or working with the engineering team to resolve an unexpected technical issue.

As the programme progresses, your attention will shift towards spacecraft integration and environmental testing.

You'll work alongside AI&T teams as the spacecraft undergoes vibration testing, thermal vacuum testing and electromagnetic compatibility testing.

You'll help ensure the spacecraft is ready for launch integration, that documentation and customer deliverables are complete, and that the mission is progressing towards its operational objectives.

Throughout all of this, you'll remain the primary point of contact for the customer.

You'll provide clear programme updates, manage expectations and ensure technical, financial and schedule commitments remain aligned.

From the first design review to the final stages of mission delivery, you'll have visibility and influence across the entire programme.

And ultimately, you'll get to see the spacecraft you've helped deliver operating in space.

Technical credibility really matters here

We're not looking for someone whose entire career has been spent managing projects without understanding the engineering behind them.

We need someone who can sit in a room with spacecraft engineers, understand the technical discussion and ask the right questions.

You don't need to be the expert in every subsystem.

But you do need to understand how the pieces fit together.

That includes spacecraft structures, electrical systems, avionics, communications, attitude determination and control, onboard computing and the ground segment.

You'll understand why technical decisions made early in a programme can have significant implications for manufacturing, testing, launch and operational performance.

You'll also appreciate the trade-offs involved in developing small satellites, where mass, power, volume, performance, cost and schedule are constantly competing priorities.

Experience with smallsat and ESPA-class spacecraft would be particularly valuable.

Ideally, you'll have previously worked as a Systems Engineer on an actual flight programme or developed significant expertise in a major spacecraft subsystem.

Because when an engineering challenge threatens the programme, we need someone who understands the implications rather than simply updating the risk register.

What kind of experience are we looking for?

We're looking for someone who has spent at least seven years working within aerospace or satellite engineering, including a minimum of three years in programme or project management.

You'll ideally bring:

  • A degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline. A Master's degree would be advantageous.

  • Experience managing satellite or spacecraft programmes through design, manufacturing, integration, testing and mission operations.

  • Previous hands-on systems engineering experience on a flight programme, or significant technical expertise in a major spacecraft subsystem such as ADCS or C&DH.

  • A strong understanding of small satellite architectures, spacecraft systems, space sensors and ground infrastructure.

  • Experience leading technical milestones, including PDR, CDR and other major design and programme reviews.

  • Familiarity with spacecraft environmental testing, including vibration, thermal vacuum and EMI/EMC.

  • Proven experience managing programme budgets, cost forecasts, schedules, suppliers and technical risks.

  • Experience working with commercial satellite customers, government organisations or institutional space programmes.

  • The ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering teams and maintain delivery momentum under challenging timelines.

You'll also need strong communication skills and the confidence to work with customers, engineers, suppliers and senior executives.

But beyond the technical requirements, we're looking for someone with a particular mindset.

Someone who takes responsibility.

Someone who isn't afraid to challenge a technical assumption or raise a concern when something doesn't look right.

Someone who can make informed decisions, remain calm under pressure and bring people together when a programme needs direction.

And importantly, someone who genuinely enjoys the challenge of delivering complex space missions.

Why is this opportunity different?

Because you'll be joining an organisation at a particularly exciting stage of its growth.

The company is expanding its US presence, investing in new manufacturing capabilities and building the engineering teams needed to support increasingly ambitious satellite programmes.

You'll be joining a business where the distance between engineering, programme management and senior leadership is relatively short.

You'll have the opportunity to influence decisions, challenge existing processes and help shape how programmes are delivered as the organisation scales.

Rather than becoming one small part of an enormous aerospace programme, you'll have genuine ownership of the missions you're responsible for.

You'll also collaborate closely with experienced spacecraft engineers across the company's international offices, including its European headquarters.

That means exposure to different engineering teams, technologies, customers and approaches to satellite development.

And because the organisation is growing, there will be opportunities to develop your responsibilities and career alongside it.

What's on offer?

Salary: $160,000 – $220,000 USD

The final package will reflect your technical background, programme management experience and the complexity of missions you've previously delivered.

You'll also receive:

  • Health insurance coverage

  • Matching 401(k) plan

  • Generous team performance-based bonus

  • Opportunities to collaborate with international engineering teams

  • Professional development and ongoing learning

  • Access to specialist space education programmes

  • Opportunities for international travel

  • The chance to take ownership of complex, next-generation satellite missions

Senior IT Systems Administrator

  • Location: Los Angeles, California
  • Remote: Hybrid
  • Type: Permanent
  • Job #8272
  • Salary: NON 150,000

Location: Los Angeles, California

Compensation: Competitive base salary + package

Environment: Smallsat Design and Manufacturing

The opportunity

Imagine arriving at work knowing the systems you're responsible for aren't supporting another ordinary corporate office.

They're supporting a team building spacecraft.

EVONA is partnering with a fast-growing international space technology company that is expanding its US operations in LA and building the infrastructure, engineering capability and teams required to support its next phase of growth.

At the centre of that expansion sits IT.

As Senior IT Systems Administrator, you'll become the primary IT resource for the US operation — responsible for keeping its people connected, its infrastructure reliable, its cloud environments secure and its systems compliant with the demanding requirements of the US government and defence ecosystem.

This isn't a role where you'll spend your day forwarding tickets to somebody else.

You'll own things.

What will you actually be responsible for?

Your environment will span everything from the laptop sitting on an engineer's desk to government-regulated cloud infrastructure.

You'll support employees when technology gets in their way, troubleshoot hardware and software issues and manage the workstations, servers, networks and devices that keep the LA and Denver operations running.

But that's only the beginning.

You'll administer Microsoft GCC High across Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, Intune and Entra ID, alongside Azure Government infrastructure and AWS GovCloud environments.

Identity and access will sit firmly within your world.

You'll manage onboarding and offboarding, user provisioning, MFA, role-based access, privileged accounts and permissions across both local and cloud environments.

You'll also have significant responsibility for cybersecurity.

That means monitoring endpoints and infrastructure, investigating suspicious activity, responding to security incidents, managing vulnerabilities, maintaining patching and system-hardening programmes and continuously improving the controls protecting the organisation.

When something doesn't look right, you'll investigate it.

When something could be more secure, you'll improve it.

And when the organisation grows, you'll help make sure the technology and security architecture can grow with it.

Security isn't an afterthought here

The company operates within an environment where government and defence customers expect considerably more than a password policy and antivirus software.

You'll help maintain and strengthen compliance with frameworks and requirements such as:

CMMC | NIST 800-171 | FedRAMP | ITAR | DFARS

You'll maintain security documentation, inventories, audit evidence, access reviews, logs and control records and help ensure the organisation is ready when customers or auditors need evidence that controls are actually being followed.

You'll also evaluate encryption technologies and protocols including AES, RSA, ECC and TLS/SSL, considering how they're applied to data at rest and in transit.

That includes disk encryption, certificate handling and key management in environments aligned with FIPS 140-2/140-3 requirements.

You'll support backups, restoration testing, disaster recovery and business continuity exercises too.

Because in this environment, resilience matters just as much as security.

You'll have a lot of technology to play with

Depending on the environment, you'll be working across technologies including:

  • Microsoft GCC High
  • Azure Government
  • AWS GovCloud
  • Microsoft Entra ID / Active Directory
  • Microsoft Intune
  • Microsoft Defender
  • Microsoft Sentinel / Security Center
  • Windows Server
  • EDR and endpoint security
  • Firewalls, VPNs and networking
  • Identity and privileged access management
  • Vulnerability and patch management
  • Monitoring and logging platforms
  • Encryption and key management

You'll also manage and troubleshoot the physical infrastructure behind the operation — switches, routers, storage, wireless networks, firewalls, internet connectivity and office IT equipment.

So if you're someone who enjoys being genuinely hands-on rather than specialising in one tiny corner of an enterprise IT department, you'll have plenty to get involved with.

Who are we looking for?

We're looking for someone with at least five years of experience across systems administration, infrastructure engineering, IT operations, cybersecurity or a closely related field.

You'll ideally have a degree in IT, Computer Science or Cybersecurity, although equivalent practical experience is equally interesting.

You'll need strong experience within Windows-based enterprise environments and Microsoft 365.

Experience with Microsoft GCC High, Azure Government and AWS GovCloud would be particularly valuable because these environments will form an important part of your responsibility.

You should also be comfortable with:

Active Directory and Entra ID, Group Policy, DNS and DHCP; TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, VPNs and firewalls; endpoint security and EDR; device management and encryption; vulnerability remediation; system monitoring and logging; incident investigation and response.

Experience supporting organisations working within CMMC, NIST 800-171, FedRAMP, ITAR, DFARS or similar regulated environments would be highly advantageous.

But technical knowledge alone isn't enough.

You'll be the person people turn to when something isn't working.

So we're looking for someone who can troubleshoot calmly, communicate clearly, document properly and explain technical problems to people who don't necessarily speak IT.

Why apply?

Because this is an opportunity to join while the US operation is still being built.

Rather than inheriting an enormous corporate environment where everything was designed ten years ago and changing anything requires six committees, you'll have the opportunity to influence how infrastructure, security and IT operations develop as the organisation grows.

You'll work alongside engineers and technical teams developing next-generation space technology, while collaborating with colleagues across the company's international offices.

You'll have autonomy, direct access to leadership and the opportunity to recommend better technology, architecture, processes and security controls when you see an opportunity to improve something.

There will also be opportunities for occasional international travel and collaboration with the company's European teams.

What’s on offer?

Salary: $100,000 – $130,000 USD

The final salary will depend on experience and technical background.

You'll also receive:

  • Health insurance coverage
  • Matching 401(k) plan
  • Generous team performance-based bonus
  • Autonomy and direct access to leadership
  • Travel and conference opportunities
  • International collaboration
  • Ongoing learning and career development

One final thought

Plenty of companies need someone to administer Microsoft 365, manage their network and keep their cloud infrastructure running.

Far fewer can offer you the opportunity to do it while helping build the US technology infrastructure behind an international spacecraft company.

If you like the idea of owning an environment rather than simply maintaining one — and you want your next IT challenge to involve space, government technology and serious cybersecurity — we'd love to hear from you.

Senior Thermal Engineer

  • Location: Los Angeles, California
  • Type: Permanent
  • Job #8261
  • Salary: NON 180,000

Location: Los Angeles, California

Compensation: Competitive base salary + package

Environment: Smallsat Design and Manufacturing

What if you could take ownership of the thermal performance of a spacecraft from the first design decisions all the way through testing, launch and operations?

EVONA is working with a fast-growing space company that's building its US engineering team in Los Angeles, California, and we're looking for an experienced Spacecraft Thermal Engineer to join them.

You'll be joining a fast-paced, hands-on smallsat engineering and manufacturing environment, developing advanced satellites for commercial, government and scientific missions.

This is an opportunity to get close to the hardware, solve real spacecraft engineering problems and see your work ultimately fly.

The opportunity

As a Spacecraft Thermal Engineer, you'll be responsible for thermal engineering activities across the full spacecraft lifecycle.

From initial spacecraft design and thermal architecture through manufacturing, environmental testing, launch and flight operations, you'll have the opportunity to follow your engineering work from concept to orbit.

You'll work as part of a multidisciplinary Systems Engineering team, collaborating closely with mechanical, electrical, systems and AIT engineers to make sure the spacecraft performs across the environments it will encounter.

You'll work on both satellite platforms and customer-specific spacecraft, meaning the engineering challenges won't always be the same.

This isn't a role where you'll simply run an existing thermal model and produce a report.

You'll help define the thermal architecture.

You'll build and develop the models.

You'll make predictions.

You'll validate them through testing.

And when something doesn't behave as expected, you'll help figure out why.

What you'll be doing

You'll take responsibility for defining spacecraft thermal architectures, including radiators, thermal blankets, heaters and other thermal-control solutions.

You'll build and maintain spacecraft thermal models and use them to predict performance across hot and cold flight cases.

You'll support TVAC campaigns by predicting thermal behaviour, defining test success criteria and calculating thermal power consumption.

Once the hardware goes into testing, you'll correlate your models against real test results and refine them accordingly.

And when thermal issues arise, you'll investigate them, understand the root cause and work with the wider engineering team to drive them through to closure.

Your involvement won't necessarily stop at launch either.

You'll have the opportunity to support spacecraft through flight operations and see how the systems you've designed and analysed perform in the real environment of space.

Who we're looking for

We're looking for someone with a strong technical background in spacecraft thermal engineering who enjoys being close to both the analysis and the hardware.

You'll ideally bring:

  • An MSc in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering or a related discipline
  • Strong spacecraft thermal engineering knowledge
  • Experience defining spacecraft thermal architectures
  • Experience developing and working with thermal models
  • Understanding of spacecraft hot-case and cold-case analysis
  • Experience supporting thermal vacuum testing and model correlation
  • A strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles
  • The ability to investigate and solve complex thermal problems
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to engineering

You'll also be someone who takes ownership and understands that good engineering isn't finished until the solution is delivered and proven.

This role is primarily on-site in Los Angeles, California

What would really make you stand out?

If you've spent 5+ years working on space programmes, I'd particularly like to hear from you.

Experience with nanosatellites or small satellites would be highly valuable.

Perhaps you've already taken spacecraft through thermal analysis, TVAC qualification and into flight.

Maybe you've worked in an environment where thermal engineers don't operate in isolation, but work directly alongside mechanical, systems, electronics and AIT teams to make rapid engineering decisions.

And if you're comfortable sharing your knowledge and helping develop more junior engineers around you, even better.

Why Apply?

Because you'll have the opportunity to work on real spacecraft and see the impact of your engineering decisions.

You'll be joining a fast-paced and delivery-focused environment where engineers are encouraged to take ownership, solve problems and continuously improve.

There are difficult engineering challenges to solve and plenty of hands-on R&D as the company continues developing its next generation of small satellite technology.

You'll also collaborate with experienced international engineering teams across Europe, with opportunities for occasional international travel.

The package includes:

  • Salary of $120,000–$180,000 per year
  • Health insurance
  • Matching 401(k)
  • Continued technical learning and development
  • International collaboration and occasional travel

Most importantly, this is an opportunity to own your work from analysis to hardware.

If you're a spacecraft thermal engineer who wants to do more than sit behind a model — and you want to see your engineering decisions tested, qualified, launched and ultimately operating in space — we'd love to hear from you.

Founding Software Engineer

  • Location: Los Angeles, California
  • Type: Permanent
  • Job #7902
  • Salary: NON 150,000

Founding Software Engineer – Robotics Integration Platform

Location: Santa Monica, CA — hybrid schedule
Compensation: $160,000–$180,000+ base salary, depending on experience
Equity: Meaningful founding-stage equity
Company Stage: Early-stage, well-funded stealth robotics startup

The Opportunity

Robots can perform increasingly complex tasks, but connecting robots from different manufacturers remains expensive, slow and highly customized.

This company is building a vendor-neutral software platform that allows robots, OEM fleet managers, sensors and facility systems to communicate and operate through one shared integration and orchestration layer.

As a Founding Software Engineer, you will own a critical technical foundation of the product: the software layer that connects different robotic systems to the broader platform. This is a hands-on role for someone who wants to build from zero, work directly with physical robots and shape the architecture of an early-stage company.

What You’ll Work On

  • Design and build the core robot integration layer.

  • Create reusable interfaces across different robot manufacturers, APIs, SDKs and protocols.

  • Develop OEM-specific adapters without allowing the platform to become a collection of one-off drivers.

  • Normalize robot capabilities, commands, mission states, health data, failures and operator interventions.

  • Integrate sensors, payloads and facility systems with physical robots.

  • Support quadrupeds, mobile robots, AMRs, manipulators and other autonomous systems.

  • Build simulation, testing and validation workflows before physical deployment.

  • Debug problems across software, networking, sensors and hardware.

  • Collaborate directly with founders, customers, OEMs and integration partners.

  • Help define the technical architecture, engineering practices and future team.

What We’re Looking For

  • Approximately five or more years of professional robotics or autonomous-systems software experience.

  • Professional experience using ROS or ROS2; strong ROS1 experience is transferable.

  • Experience developing and deploying software on physical robotic systems.

  • Hands-on experience integrating robot hardware, sensors, payloads, APIs or SDKs.

  • Strong software engineering ability in languages such as C++, Python or similar.
