A space & defense company is hiring a Proposal Manager to run competitive bids and multi-million-dollar proposal responses through a six-month engagement. The company working on a launch system and competing for commercial, defense and civil-space contracts, including NASA-class solicitations.
The pipeline is live and the technical story is strong. What’s needed is a proposal owner who has run government and commercial bids before, can pick up an active pursuit without a long runway, and can carry it from RFP release through compliant submission on a fixed clock.
What you’ll be doing
- Break down complex RFPs into compliance and requirements matrices that the whole team works from
- Own the proposal schedule from kickoff to submission, with no missed milestones
- Coordinate engineers, pricing analysts, legal and leadership to gather technical and cost inputs on time
- Edit technical narratives into clear, one-voice selling arguments and executive summaries
- Run color reviews and drive recovery when sections fall behind
- Check every document against FAR/DFARS and commercial procurement rules before delivery
- Report bid status, risks and go/no-go inputs directly to the CEO
What you’ll need
- 5+ years managing proposals for government, defense or commercial aerospace contracts
- Track record on multi-million-dollar bids for agencies such as NASA, DoD or ESA
- Fluency in FAR/DFARS and federal procurement compliance
- Proven ability to build and maintain compliance matrices from complex solicitations
- Strong technical editing: you can turn engineering input into persuasive, plain prose
- Experience coordinating cross-functional inputs from engineering, pricing and legal
- Disciplined schedule management under hard submission deadlines
- Comfortable working part-time and remote with a small, fast-moving team
- Clear, direct communication with senior leadership
- US-based and eligible to work on ITAR-controlled programs

- Shipley or APMP proposal methodology
- SBIR/STTR, OTA or Space Force / NASA launch services solicitations
- Capture management and pre-RFP customer shaping
- Cost volume or basis-of-estimate coordination
- Prior contract or independent consulting work, you land and add value fast
