Contract Project Manager — Manufacturing Facility Relocation

6-month contract – 40 hours per week

Fully remote (US-based)

 

A space & defense company is hiring a Project Manager to run two manufacturing facility relocations through a 6-month engagement. One site handles live products, the other inert, in separate cities, with both due up by spring ahead of live work starting in June.

 

The dates are fixed and the team is in place. What’s needed is a project manager who has set Jira up for a non-software team before, can run it live in meetings from day one, and can carry both moves to handover on a fixed clock.

 

What you’ll be doing

  • Act as the central point of coordination across engineering, logistics, supply chain, quality and around 10 stakeholders
  • Build the Jira workspace from scratch: structure, boards, workflows and reports configured in manufacturing language, not software terms
  • Run Jira live in planning and status meetings so the plan, risks and dependencies are updated in the room, not afterwards
  • Set up reporting and scenario planning against two fixed site-ready dates
  • Stand up Confluence, or an equivalent, as the single repository for move documentation and decisions
  • Coach the program lead on Jira as the work happens, so the system outlives your engagement
  • Bring one consistent cadence to a team that mixes old-school and new-space working rhythms
  • Track actions, risks and hand-offs across two sites and two schedules

 

What you’ll need

  • Project or program management experience on manufacturing, facility or hardware programs
  • Hands-on Jira administration: you have configured projects, workflows, fields and dashboards yourself
  • Experience introducing Jira, or a similar tool, to a team that has never used it and getting it adopted
  • Ability to run a tool live in front of a room while facilitating the discussion
  • Confidence coordinating stakeholders who are strong technically and less strong at communicating
  • Comfort building structure quickly inside a scope that is still expanding
  • Clear written and verbal communication for a mixed engineering and operations audience
  • Available to start around September 21 and work full-time for at least the first three months
  • US-based and eligible to work on ITAR-controlled programs

 

Nice to have

  • Aerospace, space or defense manufacturing background
  • Confluence administration alongside Jira
  • Scrum Master or agile facilitation experience adapted for non-software teams
  • Facility relocation or production line move experience
  • Prior contract or independent consulting work, you land and add value fast
