Payload IPT Lead
We’re hiring a Payloads Lead to own the programmatic and technical delivery of a spacecraft payloads subsystem in a fast-paced environment. You’ll manage scope, schedule, budget, and the technical baseline, while coordinating cross-functional engineering work to hit aggressive milestones without compromising quality.
Key responsibilities

Prioritize and delegate work across the payloads team based on evolving program needs

Coordinate with internal teams and external partners, vendors, and stakeholders to support hardware selection and integration

Own payloads subsystem scope, schedule, budget, risk, and technical baseline within program constraints

Produce clear documentation and data products to justify design decisions and support internal and external reviews

Drive technical coordination across mechanical, electrical, thermal, safety, and systems engineering

Lead integration, validation, ground test execution, and flight readiness through major design reviews and milestones
Required qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field

8+ years in aerospace systems development, including 3+ years in technical leadership

Strong project leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills

Experience delivering complex flight hardware, ideally on Class A programs

Comfortable managing multiple parallel workstreams and tight deadlines

Strong documentation discipline, risk ownership, and compliance mindset

Preferred qualifications

Master’s degree in engineering or management

Payload development and/or space robotics experience

Experience presenting in SRR/PDR/CDR-style design reviews

Familiarity with NASA standards and systems engineering practices (requirements, interfaces, verification, risk)

Experience in agile, startup, or commercial aerospace environments
