Electrical Engineer V – Defense & Aerospace

A leading defense and aerospace innovator is seeking an Electrical Engineer V to drive the design, integration, and qualification of mission-critical electronic hardware systems for DoD and MDA programs. This is a senior leadership role supporting advanced missile defense and aerospace applications, with a strong focus on controllable solid propulsion technologies.
What You’ll Do

Serve as lead electrical engineer on complex propulsion & missile defense programs

Guide teams through design, analysis, integration, and qualification

Design high-reliability controller electronics, interconnects, and sensor interfaces

Ensure compliance with MIL-STD, IPC, and aerospace standards

Perform FMEAs, fault tree, and worst-case circuit analyses for mission assurance

Lead customer design reviews (PDR, CDR, TRR) and present risks/solutions
-
Partner with suppliers & labs on EMI/EMC certification and qualification testing

Support system bring-up, integration, and troubleshooting during test campaigns
What We’re Looking For

U.S. Citizenship + ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret clearance

10+ years in electrical hardware design (aerospace/defense/missile systems preferred)

Proven ability to lead electrical engineering teams across the full lifecycle

Hands-on experience qualifying flight hardware to MIL/Aerospace standards

Background in actuation systems, propulsion controls, power/motor drive circuits

Proficiency with Altium, OrCAD, PSPICE or equivalent tools

Strong skills in signal integrity, grounding/shielding, EMI/EMC design

Excellent communicator, confident presenting to DoD/MDA stakeholders
Education
-
Bachelor’s in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related (required)

Master’s preferred – can substitute for experience

Familiarity with MDA MAP/PMAP requirements

Experience with redundancy, fault isolation, and safety-critical hardware design
