Welder, Propulsion Tank Fabrication

Welder, Propulsion Tank Fabrication
Greater Montreal, QC | Onsite | Full-time, permanent

Build the tanks that fly.

Our client is a well-funded Canadian launch company building an orbital rocket. Their propellant tanks are on the critical path, and they need a highly skilled aluminum welder to start building them now.

This is a hands-on role with a clear route to owning the process. You'll hand weld flight and test tanks today. As dedicated welding equipment comes in-house, you'll help select it, commission it and run it, and shape how tank production scales from prototypes to repeatable builds.

What you'll do

Weld aluminum barrel sections, domes and fittings into pressure tanks using TIG, MIG or both.
Set up, fixture and prep joints to hold tight tolerances on thin-wall aluminum.
Work directly with propulsion and structures engineers on weld parameters, sequences and joint design.
Support inspection and pressure testing, and feed the results back into the process.
Write and maintain weld procedures and records so the work is repeatable.
Help choose, commission and operate automated welding equipment.

What you'll bring

Several years of professional aluminum welding, with work you can show.
Strong TIG and/or MIG on aluminum, including thin-wall and structural joints.
Experience building tanks, pressure vessels or other leak-critical parts.
Confidence working from drawings and weld symbols, alongside engineers who will ask “why.”
The ownership to write the procedure, not just follow it.
Eligibility for Canada's Controlled Goods Program.

Nice to have

Aerospace, tanker, marine or cryogenic tank fabrication.
CWB certification, or experience working to CSA W47.2 or ASME Section IX.
Automated, orbital or seam welding experience.
NDT exposure, or a record of passing X-ray quality welds.

Why this role

You'll build hardware that goes to space, in a small team where your welds and your judgment matter from day one. You won't inherit someone else's process. You'll build it.
