Senior Mechanical Test Engineer (Contract | Remote | 6–12 Months)
We’re seeking a Senior Test Engineer to support advanced aerospace and propulsion programs on a remote contract basis. With travel required to Nevada for testing (approx 2 weeks per quarter).
This role will lead complex testing activities across high-performance systems, including test planning, data acquisition, structural and thermal analysis, systems verification, and large-scale test execution.
What you’ll bring:
15+ years’ experience in mechanical or aerospace engineering
Strong background in test engineering and verification programs
Experience with data acquisition, statistical analysis, CFD, and structural analysis
Ability to lead high-risk or large-scale testing campaigns
Knowledge of propulsion or rocket motor systems preferred
Strong CAD, GD&T, and technical documentation skills
U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain security clearance

This role sits at the intersection of spacecraft systems engineering and next-generation AI-enabled mission integration. Key Responsibilities
Own technical delivery across customer projects from concept through execution
Conduct space vehicle-level trade studies (spacecraft buses & payloads) across multiple vendors
Perform architecture analysis, including:
Compatibility assessments
Interface risk identification
Ranked recommendations with clear engineering rationale
Produce customer-facing technical deliverables, including:
Compliance matrices
Architecture summaries
Risk assessments
Ensure outputs are:
Robust enough for design reviews
Clear and actionable for program managers
Validate engineering analyses for accuracy, completeness, and quality
Help shape internal engineering processes and methodologies based on hands-on spacecraft integration experience

Contract Details

Hours: Minimum 20 hours/month, with flexibility to scale based on workload
