Electrical Engineering Manager – Digital & Mixed-Signal Hardware

Electrical Engineering Manager – Digital & Mixed-Signal Hardware
Denver, CO

Our rapidly scaling Space client is seeking an Electrical Engineering Manager for their Digital & Mixed-Signal Hardware to lead the development of advanced high-speed digital electronics supporting next-generation communication and computing systems for space and airborne platforms. This is a highly technical leadership opportunity focused on delivering scalable, production-ready digital hardware in a fast-paced and innovation-driven engineering environment.

The role will oversee engineering teams across multiple sites and product lines while driving technical execution, architecture consistency, and engineering process maturity. The successful candidate will combine hands-on technical expertise with team leadership responsibilities, supporting the development of complex software-defined radio systems, phased array control electronics, and high-performance embedded computing platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead digital and mixed-signal hardware engineering activities across multiple aerospace and defense programmes.
  • Establish and improve engineering standards, workflows, and best practices for high-speed digital design and PCB development.
  • Drive architecture reviews, schematic reviews, layout reviews, and cross-functional technical decision making.
  • Support development of software-defined radio platforms, phased array systems, and high-speed embedded computing architectures.
  • Contribute directly to board-level digital and mixed-signal hardware development when required.
  • Lead complex debug and troubleshooting activities involving processors, FPGAs, and high-speed interfaces.
  • Ensure designs meet design-for-manufacturability (DFM) and design-for-test (DFT) requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with RF, firmware, power, mechanical, manufacturing, quality, and systems engineering teams.
  • Lead hiring, mentoring, coaching, and technical development of engineering teams.
  • Support long-term architecture planning, platform reuse strategies, and engineering execution planning.

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 7+ years of experience in digital or mixed-signal hardware engineering with leadership or management exposure.
  • Strong experience with high-speed digital board design and dense multilayer PCB architectures.
  • Experience with signal integrity analysis and timing closure.
  • Familiarity with high-speed simulation and analysis tools such as Ansys SiWave, ADS SiPro, or equivalent.
  • Hands-on experience with schematic capture and PCB layout tools such as Altium.
  • Understanding of FPGA-based systems, embedded processors, and hardware/software integration.
  • Experience supporting products through development, integration, qualification, and manufacturing transition.
  • Strong cross-functional communication and technical leadership capabilities.

Preferred Background:

  • Aerospace, defense, satellite communications, phased array, or software-defined radio experience.
  • Familiarity with FPGA toolchains such as Xilinx Vivado.
  • Experience building and scaling engineering teams in fast-growth environments.
  • Exposure to production environments, hardware productization, and supply chain collaboration.
