- Lead development of optical tracking subsystems including IR sensors, optics, and beam steering
- Design and implement closed-loop and autonomous tracking algorithms
- Drive system integration, calibration, and performance validation
- Lead trade studies, requirements definition, and technical decision-making
- Collaborate across hardware, software, and systems engineering teams
- Mentor engineers and contribute to overall technical direction
What You Bring
- Hands-on experience with laser acquisition, pointing, tracking, or stabilization systems
- Strong background in laser systems and electro-optical / IR sensing technologies
- Experience with directed energy systems, laser communications, or similar domains
- Proven ability to design and tune precision closed-loop control systems
- Experience integrating optics, sensors, electronics, and software into complex systems
- Proficiency with modeling and simulation tools (MATLAB, Python, or similar)
- Experience with system integration, calibration, and testing
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance
Ideal Background
- Directed energy or laser systems
- Optical payloads or space-based sensing/tracking systems
- Laser communications or electro-optical control systems
