Propulsion Systems Designer
Propulsion Systems Designer
Propulsion Systems Designer | Greater Montreal, Quebec | Hybrid, 2 days onsite
An orbital launch vehicle developer in Quebec is hiring a Propulsion Systems Designer to take propulsion hardware from concept through to fired, qualified components.
You'll create and manage parts, assemblies and drawings in a PLM environment, and design components across propulsion, ground systems and the launch vehicle itself. Numerical and analytical simulation sits alongside the design work, as does writing the test plans and analysing the results that qualify what you've built. You'll take part in and oversee propulsion test campaigns, and you'll be in the room for root cause investigations and the redesigns that follow. There's also scope to build out new tooling and methods that make the whole propulsion engineering process more rigorous.
You'll need a mechanical, aerospace or related engineering degree and five years or more in rocket propulsion, whether through industry, your own projects or research. Strong 3D modelling and drafting in a PLM context, so SolidWorks, CATIA or NX. Real design for manufacture knowledge across machining, welding, casting and metal 3D printing. GD&T and drafting standards. Field test experience on propulsion or aerospace systems, from engine tests through to competition rocketry. Python or MATLAB is an asset.
You must be able to pass Canadian Controlled Goods security checks. English is essential, French an asset.
