As the business continues to evolve from research into commercial product delivery, they're looking to add a Junior Python Software Engineer to their growing engineering team. The Role

You'll contribute to the development of modern Python applications, backend services, and cloud-based software that powers complex scientific and analytical workflows.

Working closely with senior engineers, you'll gain exposure to the full software development lifecycle, from design and implementation through testing, deployment, and production support.

This role is ideal for someone with a strong Python foundation who wants to learn quickly, take ownership, and build high-quality software that solves real-world problems.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend applications using Python.
• Build and support APIs for customer-facing applications.
• Assist with cloud deployments and containerized environments.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
• Debug software issues and contribute to production improvements.
• Participate in code reviews and technical discussions.
• Work alongside senior engineers to improve software quality and engineering processes.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver new product features.

Required Experience

• 1-3 years of professional software development experience (internships alone will not be sufficient).
• Strong Python programming skills.
• Experience developing commercial software applications.
• Understanding of object-oriented programming principles.
• Experience using Git for version control.
• Familiarity with REST APIs.
• Comfortable working in Linux development environments.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Experience

• Docker or containerization.
• AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• CI/CD exposure.
• SQL and relational databases.
• FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
• Experience processing or analysing data.
• Exposure to scientific computing, engineering, mathematics, AI/ML, or simulation software.
• Personal software projects or open-source contributions.
