Chief Strategy Officer, Satellite Communications

About the Opportunity

Our client is undertaking one of the most ambitious satellite communications programmes in the world, developing a next-generation Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite constellation to deliver secure, high-capacity broadband connectivity at scale.

As Chief Strategy Officer, you will define and execute the commercial, financial and strategic roadmap for this multi-billion-dollar programme. Working alongside executive leadership, you will shape the business from concept through deployment, leading strategy across investment, partnerships, supply chain, market entry and organisational growth.

This is a rare opportunity to influence the direction of a globally significant space infrastructure programme from day one.


The Role

This executive leadership position combines corporate strategy, commercial leadership, financial planning and deep understanding of the satellite ecosystem.

You will be responsible for building the long-term business strategy while ensuring execution across multiple parallel workstreams including constellation planning, partner selection, launch strategy, market development and executive hiring.

Success will require balancing commercial vision with operational delivery in a highly capital-intensive industry.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Planning & Business Development

  • Define and execute the long-term strategy for a global satellite communications business.
  • Develop business cases supporting large-scale infrastructure investment.
  • Build detailed financial models covering revenue forecasts, CAPEX, OPEX and long-term profitability.
  • Lead strategic planning around constellation deployment, capacity expansion and commercial growth.
  • Present investment recommendations to executive leadership and Board stakeholders.

Commercial Strategy

  • Develop go-to-market strategy across multiple customer segments including:
    • Enterprise
    • Government
    • Defence
    • Aviation
    • Maritime
    • Consumer Broadband
  • Define pricing, market positioning and competitive strategy.
  • Build sustainable long-term revenue models.

Partnerships & Ecosystem Development

  • Evaluate strategic partners across:
    • Satellite manufacturing
    • Payload suppliers
    • TT&C
    • Ground segment
    • User terminals
    • Launch providers
  • Lead commercial negotiations and strategic partnerships.
  • Assess acquisition opportunities and strategic investments.
  • Build a resilient global supplier ecosystem.

Programme Leadership

  • Coordinate executive-level delivery across commercial, engineering and operational teams.
  • Develop strategic roadmaps for constellation deployment.
  • Drive executive decision making throughout programme execution.
  • Monitor strategic risks across technology, supply chain and commercial operations.

Executive Leadership

  • Support recruitment and development of senior technical and commercial leadership.
  • Build high-performing executive teams.
  • Engage with Boards, investors, regulators and strategic partners globally.

What We're Looking For

We're seeking a senior executive with extensive leadership experience within the satellite, aerospace or deep technology sectors.

You will likely bring:

  • 25+ years of senior leadership experience.
  • Experience leading large-scale satellite or space infrastructure programmes.
  • Strong commercial and strategic leadership experience.
  • Executive-level financial modelling and investment planning expertise.
  • Deep understanding of satellite manufacturing, ground systems, launch and communications infrastructure.
  • Experience negotiating complex strategic partnerships, joint ventures or M&A transactions.
  • Previous ownership of significant P&L responsibility.
  • Outstanding stakeholder management across executive leadership, investors and government organisations.
