Crew Systems IPT

A space technology company developing next-generation lunar mobility and human spaceflight systems is seeking an experienced Crew Systems IPT Lead to join its growing team.

This is a great opportunity to lead the development and integration of crew-facing systems for a flagship human-rated spaceflight programme. Working at the forefront of commercial space exploration, you will be responsible for delivering safe, reliable and mission-critical crew systems while collaborating with government agencies, commercial partners and multidisciplinary engineering teams.

The successful candidate will combine deep technical expertise in human-rated systems with strong programme leadership capabilities, driving the delivery of crew accommodations, interfaces and operational systems from concept through certification and flight readiness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Crew Systems Integrated Product Team (IPT), with accountability for technical performance, programme cost and schedule.
    • Oversee the design, development and integration of crew-facing hardware and software systems, including:
    • Human-machine interfaces
    • Displays and controls
    • Seating and restraint systems
    • Lighting systems
    • Stowage solutions
    • Ingress and egress systems
  • Work closely with human spaceflight stakeholders, customers and certification authorities to ensure crew systems meet programme requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable human-rating, safety and certification standards.
  • Define, manage and maintain system requirements, interfaces and verification strategies.
  • Coordinate technical activities across mechanical, electrical, software, thermal, safety and systems engineering teams.
  • Lead system integration, validation and verification activities through major programme milestones and design reviews.
  • Support the development of operational procedures, crew training materials and mission products.
  • Drive a culture of safety, innovation, quality and mission success throughout the programme lifecycle.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Human Factors Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Significant experience delivering complex aerospace or human-rated systems, including several years in technical leadership positions.
  • Master's degree in Engineering, Systems Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience supporting human spaceflight, crewed aerospace, defence or other safety-critical programmes
  • Proven experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams through full product development lifecycles.
  • Strong understanding of systems engineering principles, integration and verification processes.
  • Experience working within highly regulated environments and certification-driven programmes.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple technical workstreams simultaneously and perform effectively under demanding schedules.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication and leadership skills.
  • Strong organisational and project management capabilities.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-growth environments.
