Principal Software Project Engineer I

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead and manage software development programs for satellite and aerospace systems
  • Build and maintain software development plans aligned to cost, schedule, and technical requirements
  • Act as the bridge between software engineering, program management, and customers
  • Drive execution through:
    • Backlog management
    • Sprint planning & standups
    • Retrospectives
  • Prioritize features across multiple stakeholders with competing needs
  • Own and maintain tools such as Jira and other lifecycle management systems
  • Ensure consistent execution of the software development lifecycle (Agile, V-model, etc.)
  • Continuously improve processes, delivery, and team efficiency

What We’re Looking For

  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or similar
  • 9+ years of experience, including:
    • Software project/program management
    • Exposure to embedded software development
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Software development lifecycles (Agile, V-model, etc.)
    • Requirements, configuration, and issue tracking systems
  • Experience with tools like Jira
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both:
    • Technical teams
    • Non-technical stakeholders

Nice to Have

  • Experience in aerospace, satellite, or high-reliability systems
  • Background in embedded systems or firmware development
  • Familiarity with hardware/software integration at board level
  • Experience managing spacecraft or mission software programs
  • Exposure to requirements-driven engineering environments

Compensation & Benefits

  • $142,000 – $189,500 base salary
