A fast-growing space robotics and mobility company is seeking a Business Development Engineer to help win and shape future space missions. This is a highly hands-on, generalist role for someone who is comfortable moving between technical work, customer engagement, and proposal development.

You’ll play a key role in identifying new opportunities, supporting capture efforts, and helping translate complex engineering concepts into compelling proposals for government and commercial customers. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys both building and explaining, and who wants to help turn early concepts into funded programs.


What you’ll do

  • Conduct market and customer research to inform business and capture strategy

  • Track open solicitations, including scope, value, requirements, timelines, and key stakeholders

  • Lead and support capture efforts for new contracts and recompetes with government and commercial customers

  • Write and contribute to technical proposals and bids for aerospace, defense, and space exploration programs

  • Collaborate with internal engineering teams, leadership, and external partners to strengthen capture positioning

  • Support improvements to business development and capture processes

  • Perform hands-on engineering work for small R&D efforts tied to capture and proposal activities

  • Attend conferences, workshops, and industry events to develop relationships and socialize new concepts


What we’re looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field

  • 3+ years of experience supporting or leading contract capture in aerospace, space, or defense

  • Prior experience with the RFP process and proposal development

  • Strong understanding of the aerospace and/or advanced technology market

  • Comfortable learning new technical areas independently to support R&D and capture efforts

  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple deadlines

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • US Person status


Nice to have

  • Existing network across NASA, DoD, or related government agencies

  • Hands-on technical skills such as CAD, basic machining, soldering, microcontroller development, or test experience

  • Experience writing research documentation, technical reports, or program summaries

  • Background working in small, fast-moving, or startup engineering environments
